Designing Building, Interiors and Furniture with SketchUp

Welcome to Designing Building, Interiors and Furniture with SketchUp course. This is a comprehensive project based course where you will learn how to design and model building exteriors, interior spaces, and custom furniture using SketchUp. This course is a perfect combination between architecture and interior design for your dream living room simple fast, making it an ideal opportunity for practicing your design skills while improving your technical knowledge in 3D modeling and spatial planning. In the introduction session, you will learn the basic fundamentals of SketchUp, such as getting to know its use cases, key features, and AI integrations in design workflows. Then, in the next section, you will learn to draw basic shapes in SketchUp, specifically, you will learn how to draw lines, rectangles, circles, and polygons. Additionally, you will also modify dimensions and set exact measurements to ensure proportionate shapes and well structured designs. Afterward, you will learn to create and modify 3D objects by converting 2D shapes into 3D models with the Push and Pull tools. You will use move, rotate, scale, and mirror tools for precise adjustments and organize objects into groups or components for efficient model management. Once we have learnt the basic skills, then we will start designing building exteriors using SketchUp, we will create realistic architectural models with accurate proportions and detailing. We will begin with a simple one story house, adding essential elements like windows and a front door, before progressing to a modern office building with large glass panels, incorporating structural components and materials for a more professional look. Following that, we will design interior spaces, arranging furniture and decor to create functional and visually appealing layouts. We will start with a bedroom setup, carefully positioning a bed, nightstands, and a wardrobe to optimize space and ensure a comfortable design. Then after that, we will design a small office setup, placing a desk, chair, and bookshelves to create an efficient and productive workspace while maintaining proper spatial organization. In the next section, we will design furniture in SketchUp, modeling custom pieces with precise dimensions and realistic textures. We will start by creating a basic chair with a flat seat and a straight backrest, ensuring proper structure and proportion. Then, we will also design a wooden dining table with four matching chairs, focusing on balance, stability, and aesthetics. Last but not least, at the end of the course, we will bring our designs to life in virtual reality, enabling us to assess proportions, spatial arrangements, and details in an immersive 3D environment. By doing so, it will help us identify potential design flaws and make necessary refinements before finalizing our project.
